Antenna :: Louisiana Open Call 2022

The Submission Deadline is November 30, 2021, at 11:59 pm CST

The Submission Fee is $20

Antenna is now accepting submissions for our Louisiana Solo Exhibition Open Call 2022. This opportunity is for artists living and working in the state of Louisiana.

Individuals or collaboratives working in any visual art mediums are eligible to apply. Black, Indigenous, people of color, women, immigrants, and LGBTQ-GNC+ artists, including persons with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to submit an application.

The selected applicant will receive a solo show at Antenna Gallery during the 2022 calendar year, along with an honorarium of $1,500 (split amongst the group, if collaborative) to offset costs associated with the exhibition, install and curatorial support, and an opportunity to publish an exhibition catalog, artist book, or similar ephemeral to be determined in collaboration with Antenna's publishing center,  Paper Machine.

The selected artist or collaborators will also have an opportunity to participate in some form of programming related to their show or practice, which may include an artist talk, workshop, feature in Antenna::Signals magazine, or other forms of social engagement and conversations between the artist and our various communities.

  • A portfolio of recent works (10-20 images)
  • Inventory list including titles, dates completed, sizes, and mediums
  • Artist statement/statement about the overall artistic process
  • Artistic Resume
  • Artist Bio

Please note, examples submitted to the Antenna :: Louisiana Open Call need only represent your work or practice and do not necessarily have to be the pieces planned for exhibit at Antenna Gallery. For those who may wish to propose a site-specific project, you can view the gallery layout here: http://antenna.works/antenna_layout.pdf.

  • Open to individual visual artists or collaboratives
  • Must be a Louisiana resident

This fee helps to defray the cost of the jury process. If support is needed with the application fee, please contact us at info@antenna.works for assistance.

  • November 30, 2021: Deadline for applications
  • Late January 2022: Announcement of awardees

Upon acceptance, you will be contacted by the Director of Artist Initiatives and Gallery Exhibitions to discuss details of your solo exhibition and scheduling.

In addition to a solo exhibition finalist, the Open Calls Juror/Curator will recommend a group of runners-up artists to be included in a Louisiana group exhibition held in July of 2022. Please note, by submitting an application, you will automatically be considered for this group show. All artists selected for the group show will receive a minimal honorarium based on the total number of artists included in the show, which the Open Calls Juror/Curator will determine. If you prefer not to be considered for the group exhibition, please indicate so in the application.
