This opportunity is for those living and working in Louisiana. Individual Visual Artists or Collaboratives working in any media are encouraged to apply to the Antenna::Open Call. One applicant will be selected and will be awarded a solo show for the 2021 calendar year (we will work with the selected artist for a month that works best for their schedule), an honorarium of $1,500 (split amongst the group, if collaborative). Please note these funds are meant to cover all costs of this opportunity (including any installation, shipping, or travel expenses if necessary). The award includes the publishing of an exhibition catalog, artist book, or other similar ephemera to be determined in collaboration with the artist and Antenna's publishing center, Paper Machine.
We are excited to have Andrew Gori and Ambre Kelly, founders of the Spring Break Art Show as the jurors for this year's Louisiana Open Call! Their creative supergroup, The They Co. has organized, curated, facilitated and produced events with the New Museum, Brooklyn College, Art Hamptons, Flux Factory, Collective Show, Nuit Blanche New York, Silvershed, The Metric System, The Underground Library, Gowanus Studio Space, and numerous other community-based arts organizations. In May of 2011 and 2013, the group organized the SCHOOL NITE exhibition event for the New Museum's Festival of Ideas for the New City, and in September 2011 intercepted the city's San Gennaro Festival with a 90-foot sculptural interpretation of the Roman oculus, created by SOFTlab. Under the gender-melding moniker BOYFRIENDGIRLFRIEND, Gori and Kelly have collaborated on several formal projects, most recently their SIGHTSEERS photographic series.
To apply for this opportunity, you must be a Louisiana resident and must submit the following:
-A portfolio of recent works (10-20)
